Do’s and don’ts in the Netherlands
The corona measures in the Netherlands will stay in effect probably until a vaccin was found and many people were injected. The measures may change based on current figures. So, what are the main corona measures? Below the do’s and don’ts:
The do’s:
- Always keep a distance from other people (at least 1.5 metres) and avoid crowds.
- If you have a cough or a cold: stay home. If someone in your household develops a fever, all the members of the household should stay home. This does not apply to key workers in crucial sectors and critical processes, unless they themselves get sick. You can end the quarantine 24 hours after the symptoms of anyone who had a fever or shortness of breath have disappeared.
- Wear a face mask in public transport. This is mandatory.
- If you want to visit a restaurant, museum, cinema, etc, make a reservation upfront. The venue will ask if you and your possible accompanying persons experience covid-19 symptoms.
- Gyms, saunas, health spas, club canteens, cannabis cafés, casinos have re-opened yet have to make sure that all people present can stay on 1,5 meters from each other.
The don’ts:
- Events and gatherings for which organizers would normally be required to apply for a permit or notify the authorities are banned until 1 September 2020.
- Don’t go to busy places or go home if you see that there are many people where you are.
Enforcement of the corona measures in the Netherlands
- There is a ban on gathering in groups of more than 100 people in public. All groups have tot take the 1,5 meters measure into account.
- Different regulations apply to markets as these play a crucial role in bringing food to consumers in some places. In some local markets and shopping areas a face mask is required. Please inform before you visit!
- Mayors will be able to introduce local emergency legislation (noodverordening) so that the measures can be enforced faster and more easily. Mayors can also order specific locations to be closed and fines can be imposed.
- A fine of € 399 can be imposed if you do not follow up on the measures.
